Quinta da Furada Pata d’Urso Branco 2019 castas antigas 13.5% From a pre-phylloxera vineyard with some Mouriscos and Malvasia vines possibly 150 years of age. Offers up fresh fruity aromas, full bodied, oily texture and slightly sweet finish. Quite fruity. After opened for 24 hours, better than I thought, less sweet, more minerally, and interesting fruity old vine characters. 87-88 Tasted 7.2023
Quinta da Furada Pata d’Urso Branco 2020 castas antigas 13% Shows similar grapey mineral aromas flavors to 2019 above, but with finer crisper acidity and fresher fruit on finish. Lingers longer after swallowing. Nicer acid balance considering 2019 was generally a hotter vintage. 89 Tasted 7.2023
Quinta da Furada Pata d’Urso tinto 2017 castas antigas 14% An old vine mix, currently dominated by oaky vanilla characters, combined with cooked, red and black fruits. But shows a nice minerality as well. Smooth, seamless fruit filled mouthful of wine. Very smoothed out tannins through finish. Could do with a touch more acidity. less interesting than the branco, more of a Parkeresque style, crowd pleaser, which should sell to masses easily. 88 Tasted 7.2023
Quinta da Furada Pata d’Urso tinto 2018 castas antigas 13.5% Interestingly, younger but much less oak dominated wine. A savory, roasted mix of red and black fruit aromas. Great acidity and tannins driving length forward. Lots of fruit on finish and throughout. A wine with edge and drive and longevity. 89-90 Tasted 7.2023
Quinta da Furada Pata d’Urso Rose 2020 castas antigas 13% Presents aromas and flavors of strawberry conserve, but fresher and lighter charactered fruits in the mouth with zesty acidity. Surprisingly, refreshing style from Douro’s super hot climate. 87 Tasted 7.2023
Quinta da Furada Furada Pink Port nicely balanced light. An interesting concept. Grapey, sweet, with fresher aromatics. Lowish acidity and very light tannins. It edges on just barely enough structure to balance sweetness. I suspect it will end up as a base for cocktails to add more acidic bite. Clean, easy and sweet. Better than Furada’s basic white port. 87 Tasted 7.2023
Quinta da Furada Furada basic white port Simple, grapey, sweet with low acidity. 86 Tasted 1-6.2023
Quinta da Furada white Family Port Sweet, honeyed citrus character. Concentrated and long, evaporative finish. Nice port. 91 Tasted 7.2023
Quinta da Furada Quinta da Furada Family Tawny Port This is a delightful Tawny with spirity, spicy licorice, treacle and roasted nut aromas and touch of nicely balancing sweetness on the finish. I brought this out after dinner with friends recently and we thoroughly demolished it over an hour of lively conversation. 94-95 Tasted 8.2023
Quinta da Furada Olive oil From 500-800 year old trees offering up peppery aromas, flavor-filled, with soft fleshy texture and has a great bite to it. Superb olive oil, as good as it gets anywhere in the world. Tasted 8.2023
